David Ortiz Out For The Season?

It’s possible. The early word is that Big Papi will be out for at least three weeks, but season ending surgery is still an option. This is bad news for the Red Sox. Sure, they’ll probably still make the playoffs. Their pitching staff is that good, but they don’t win another World Series without Ortiz in the middle of their order. Papi and Manny are the ultimate one-two punch, and when one of them is down the Sox can struggle offensively. Sean Casey will be an adequate replacement for now…..but will the Sox be forced to go out and get somebody if Ortiz does have to sit out the year? And what will they have to give up to get it?
